I have experienced the AMAZING benefits working out on a consistent basis can give you and I feel a strong desire to share some of the ideas and things I have learned with others so they can start getting in their own routine and feel some of the same benefits. Exercise is just one step on the path to better health, which I believe we as a whole are in real need of. Every step counts and you will find as you take one step and begin to feel successful you will find it easier to take more steps.... "not that the nature of the thing has changed but that our power to do has increased." (Ralph Waldo Emerson) I am beginning this blog with this end in mind, to help you take a step; or, if you've taken the step already, to keep on going!

Fooducate

I was just thinking about this fantastic app today and figured I should share. Look up "Fooducate" in your app store. It allows you to scan the bar code of your food product and they rate how good it is for you and tell you why it's rated the way it is. You can see if there are any of those hidden yuckies in there. It's awesome! Have fun with it. Hope you are having a good and health filled week!! If not, no worries, you can start right now! ;)

I love a good 20 minute workout

Here's another good one for you. Beginners remember you can modify! You can use lighter weights or drop the weights altogether and you can do a lot of these exercises from your knees.  Form is more important than doing exactly what she's doing. No injuries! Remember it's all about creating a habit and once you've created a habit you can challenge yourself even more.

Healthy Snacks Even My Kids Will Eat

Frozen Grapes
Wash the grapes, pick them off the vine, put them in plastic baggies and stick in the freezer. Really good and really simple.... my kind of snack. ;)

No-Bake Energy Bites
I really love these when I need something a little sweet... My kids and husband are happy when I make them too! You can play around with the recipe. If I don't have coconut or vanilla I just leave it out. Sometimes I add some chia seeds or protein powder and you can try all kinds of nut butters. Enjoy!

Ingredients
1 cup oatmeal
2/3 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup ground flaxseed or wheat germ
1/2 cup chocolate chips (I usually leave these out or use carob chips)
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp. Vanilla

Directions:
Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour. Once chilled, roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week. YUM!

Had to share this

I just did this easy yoga routine and loved it! Good for all levels. Beginners may need to slow it down a bit or pause it a few times as she moves kind of fast. :)
